New President for Camborne Town Band Music Society

Camborne Town Band Music Society are delighted to announce that Susan Roberts will be the society’s new President, taking over the reins from her father, David Roberts OBE.

“It is a huge honour to be invited to be President of the Camborne Town Band Music Society. I have loved the band since a child and of course have heard about it all my life. My father was President for many decades and my grandfather before him had a close association with Camborne Town Band and its Youth Band in the 1930s and beyond.  I was lucky enough to work with the then Camborne Junior Contesting Band in 2018 at the centenary of the end of World War One, and helped to organise their visit to the Western Front.

I have big shoes to fill, but (thanks to my father and grandfather) I’ve grown up knowing that the Camborne Town Band Music Society is something we can be very proud of  – in Camborne and across Cornwall. Core to both bands of course are the players and conductors, but the families and friends of the players and loyal supporters who attend concerts and cheer on the bands are an important part of the team. It’s a winning team, of course. Here’s to another century of glorious music from the Camborne Town Band Music Society.”
