Thursday 24th October 2013
Camborne Band once again presented their annual Last Night Of The Proms Concert at the Hall for Cornwall in Thursday, October 24, with guests the RAOST Singers, led by Aaron Barker, and soloist Alastair Taylor.

The band, led by Kevin Mckenzie, has had a busy year having celebrated promotion at the prestigious spring festival in Blackpool in May, performed in concerts with the brass section of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in the Tolmen Centre, Constantine, and performed a concert in the St Ives Guildhall to commemorate George Lloyd’s centenary.
The proms programme included two impressive major works, La Forza del Destino by Verdi and On Alderley Edge by Peter Graham, as well as the HMS Trinidad March in honour of George Lloyd.
Other pieces included a euphonium duet, Brillante, performed fantatsically by John Hitchens and Angela Retallack, and xylophone duet, Lizsteria, performed skillfully by Charlie Hodge and Justin Strike, as well as Matt Hall’s The Smile and Zdeněk Fibich’s Poem.
The evening also included the traditional Last Night of the Proms tunes in Jerusalem, Fantasia on British Sea Songs and the Pomp and Circumstance March. This was all rounded off with a rousing rendition of Trelawny. A great evening was had by all and we look forward to next year.
