Royal Trophy Winners 2024

On Saturday 15th June, the band took part in the West of England Bandsmen’s Festival in the village of Bugle.

The band was delighted to win both the test piece ‘Paganini Variations’ and the march ‘The Australasian’ aspects of the Championship Section.

The band was also pleased to be awarded the majority of the solo prizes:

Les Kneebone – Best Soprano

Jo Scott – Best Horn

John Hitchens – Best Euphonium

Best Bass Section

Having won the Royal Trophy, the band was thrilled to be able to play in the square.

Congratulations to all the other bands who took part, including Roche Brass, St Austell Town Brass Band, Bideford Town Band, and Bugle Silver Band for winning their sections also!

A huge thanks must go to our musical director, Gareth Churcher, for his weeks of hard work and preparation on both the march and test piece.

Thank you to all of the organisers at the West of England Bandsmen’s Festival for another fantastic day and smoothly run contest!
